Instructions for Day of Service Volunteers - Sept 24th, 2011
Dear Volunteer,
Thank you for volunteering your time and effort to West Jordan's Community Day of Service. This project would not be possible without your support!
Don't forget this is also an opportunity to help those struggling with everyday food needs. Please bring from one to multiple non perishable food items to the check in tent where we will be collecting donations for the Utah Food Bank. It is our goal to donate several thousand pounds by the end of this project.
The following information should help you prepare for this service day.
Cleanup Locations (Map & Descriptions)- Where do I sign in? - Please sign in and pick up your volunteer t-shirt at the west park DAY OF SERVICE CHECK IN TENT. (Sycamores West Park- New Sycamores Dr. (7900 S.) & Cricket Ln. (7400 W.) If you've already received a shirt please wear it.
What should I wear? - Wear comfortable clothes and good footwear. Gloves are highly suggested for weeding. Protective eyewear suggested for use with small machinery.
Is food and drink provided? - Cold drinks and snacks will be provided.
What should I bring? - Tools are for your personal use – please have them labeled to prevent loss. Some will be asked to provide mowers, edgers, and tree trimmers. Some will just need a pair of hands!
Make this a family activity: - The Day of Service is designed to be family oriented. Children of all ages are strongly encouraged to participate. Everyone from the youngest toddler to the young at heart has an opportunity to contribute to this priceless expression of community spirit. Don't miss this chance to work side by side with the children of your community as they learn what it means to take ownership in and care for their community.
