Instructions for Playground Volunteers - October 8th, 2011

Dear Volunteer,

Thank you for volunteering your time and effort to West Jordan's Community Built Playground. This project would not be possible without your support! The following information should help you prepare for build day.  

Make this a family activity: -  Work taking place October 8th is specifically designed to be family oriented. Children of all ages are strongly encouraged to participate. Everyone from the youngest toddler to the young at heart has an opportunity to contribute to this priceless symbol of community spirit. Don't miss this chance to work side by side with the children of your community as they build a sense of ownership in a playground that will serve them for years to come.

When? -  West & East Parks - Saturday, October 8th, 9am.  As soon as we are finished we'll need lots of young energetic volunteers to "test" the playground!

Playground Locations (see map): - Sycamores West Park- New Sycamore Dr. (7900 S) & Cricket Ln. (7400 W)    Sycomaores East Park - New Sycamore Dr. (7900 S) & Stokesley Dr. (7200 W)

Where do I sign in? - Please sign in and pick up your volunteer t-shirt at the west park. If you've already received a shirt please wear it.

What should I wear? - Wear comfortable clothes and good footwear.

Is food and drink provided? - Cold drinks and snacks will be provided.  

What should I bring? - It would be helpful for volunteers to bring the following items. Tools are for your personal use – please have them labeled to prevent loss.

• Tarp (very useful for hauling wood chips)
• Gloves 
• Garden Rakes
• Shovels (round or square nosed, snow shovels work well for wood chips as well)
• Wheelbarrow
