Community Built Playground What: Volunteers build two playgrounds, park benches, pavilion, plant trees, and sod. When:Two days - September 24 & October 8, check-in 9am at west park (7900 S 7400 W). Where: See map below. The Community Built Playground project includes two parks both located West of U-111 in the sycamores neighborhood. Each park will include play equipment, park benches, and trees. The larger park to the west will also have a pavilion and new sod. The city of West Jordan has hired a general contractor for excavation, irrigation and concrete work. Volunteers will be responsible for the installation of play equipment, pavilion, park benches, trees, and sod. Although it's extremely uncommon for a city to engage in community built playgrounds these will be the third and fourth community built playgrounds approved by the West Jordan City Council in the last two years. | Day of Service What: Community clean up of parks, streets, common areas and homes in the Oaks, Maples and Sycamore neighborhoods. When: One day - September 24, check-in 9am at west park (7900 S 7400 W). Where: Map coming soon. Most work will include cleaning parkways, pulling weeds, cutting down heavy brush, trimming trees, and trimming bushes. It is anticipated that most areas will only take 1 1/2 to 3 hours to clean. Garbage sacks and dumpsters will be provided at each area and picked up by Waste Management. Individual assistance may be assigned for specific residents in need such as widows, or those with physical needs. Regardless of your age, or physical state...everyone can participate! We highly encourage Youth and Project Leader Volunteers. These individuals can assist with phone calls and organizational efforts. This is truly a COMMUNITY effort! | |
